Suzanne Stanfield - Principal Certified Practising Speech Pathologist

Suzanne has been a practising as a speech pathologist since graduating from the University of QLD with First Class Honours in 1998. After starting her career in QLD health, she gained international experience in the UK and then returned to the private sector in Australia working for - Ramsay Health Care, Royal Rehabilitation Centre and Plena Healthcare (formerly Loqui Speech Pathology).

During this time she gained specialised and diverse skills and knowledge in the management of swallowing and communication difficulties in adults, including specialised advanced clinical skills in the areas of intensive care, tracheostomy, surgical voice restoration, neurology and community disability care. ​
​
In 2022, Suzanne opened Mobile Speech and Swallow clinic to address the need of connecting adult community-based clients with highly experienced clinicians, in the comfort of their own homes.

Suzanne is growing a small team of like-minded experienced and passionate clinicians who possess equal amounts of empathy, experience and knowledge

Melissa McElligott - Certified Practising Speech Pathologist

Melissa has been a speech pathologist since 2007, graduating with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland and later completing a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Rehabilitation.She has worked in a variety of settings across Australia and internationally, including hospitals, rehabilitation units, outpatient clinics, and community services (public and private). For most of her career, she has supported adults with acquired brain injuries such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and brain tumours. She has worked with individuals at all stages, from those in a prolonged disorder of consciousness to those transitioning back to work or study.

Melissa also has experience with progressive neurological conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and Huntington’s Disease. She is accredited to deliver Lee Silverman Voice Treatment. (LSVT).
​
Melissa has supported individuals with a range of communication challenges, including aphasia, dysarthria and apraxia of speech, and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). She also has extensive experience supporting people with cognitive- communication, social communication (pragmatic), and behavioural difficulties following acquired brain injury.
​
Melissa understands how difficult it can be to live with a "hidden disability", which is common following some types of brain injury. She focuses on helping individuals rebuild confidence and re-engage with family and community life. Melissa prioritises health literacy in her practice, ensuring clients and their families fully understand conditions, treatment options, and how to navigate available services.
​
Melissa also has experience working as a rehabilitation coordinator/case manager, which means she has a strong understanding of services like NDIS and Centrelink.
